About me

Hello, my name is Valentina, creator of Avril Kitchen, cooking lover and “professional” taster of desserts and cakes. I guess if you are here, it is because you want to know a little more about me, so here is a little piece of my history…

I was born in Manizales, Colombia, a small city where I enjoyed cooking since I can remember, especially sweet things. There, I grew up watching culinary TV shows that made me fall in love with pastries and desserts.

When I was 13 years old, my family and I moved to Medellin, a city that I love with all my heart and where my love for cooking grew. I graduated from high school and although I decided to study Social Communications, my passion for baking started to become stronger. Since then, there has not been a Christmas or Mother’s Day when I have not teamed up with one of my cousins to create a sweet product and sell it to our family and friends.

Currently, I live in the United States, a country that I deeply love and allows me to enjoy and discover a great variety of cultures, flavors, and contrasts. I have had the opportunity of working in NYC, and it has been one of the best experiences of my life because I have been able to walk the streets and visit restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream shops to taste their products and increase my knowledge of ingredients and flavor combinations.

Today, my dream has not stopped. I have been taking different pastry and confectionery certificates and classes, and this has been just the beginning. My next step is with no doubt to study Pastry & Baking Arts. Soon, I will learn all the things I still do not know. I will continue to cook and bake thousands of empirically created things so that Avril Kitchen continues to be the materialization of my love for cooking and baking and the way I can share and connect with you and the world.

If you have any ideas or questions that you would like to share with me, do not hesitate to contact me at info@avrilkitchen.com
